Project Description |
VIRTUAL performed initial assessments and engineering design for solar PV installations ranging from 3kW to 40kW DC for 55 residences and farm buildings across Ontario. The scope of work included
· site inspections and measurements;
· assessment of roofs;
· preparation of panel layout drawings and determination of generation capacity;
· electrical system design including a single line drawing with all equipment and wiring specifications;
· design of racking system layout and preparation of structural drawings and specifications for building permit;
· preparation of bill of materials for ground-mounted and roof-mounted racking systems.
A comprehensive package was developed for each site with the assessment report and associated drawings and specifications. |

VIRTUAL performed structural review of the roof and supporting structures for a 320000 ft2 building to determine adequacy to support superimposed loads from proposed installation of the panels and racking system for a 650 kW solar PV system. Structural assessment included loading analysis for gravity and wind to estimate forces acting for 20° tilt rack and ballast design for racking system. Following the structural assessment, VIRTUAL prepared PV panel layout and ballast drawings for building permit; electrical design drawings and specifications for ESA permit including panel Layout, single line Diagram, and DC System Plan. VIRTUAL sized and specified all AC & DC equipment and cabling including inverter, transformer, combiner boxes, PV modules, switches, connectors, wiring & cables and fuses. |
